Pacifier Soothie
A soothie style pacifier is usually made somewhat smaller than other pacifiers. The mouth of a newborn is tiny compared even to a six month old baby. So a newborn does not need a pacifier that is going to become a challenge to use because of size. The soothie is made to fit a tiny baby. In fact, there are specialized pacifier soothies that are made for the very tiny jaws of premature babies.

Soothie Pacifiers
The soothie design was primarily created to help premature babies or very young infants learn to use a pacifier. The plastic is soft and pliant and the tip is small to accommodate a smaller jaw. The tip of a soothie pacifier is usually hollow to allow mom of dad to slip their pinky finger into the pacifier to help the baby learn to adapt to using a pacifier when she needs to satisfy that nursing instinct between meals.

You can easily find decorative candy items like pacifiers at baby supply stores where you might have gone to get the other decorations. But you can just as easily make your own which is more fun and less expensive too.

Dr. David M. Pierce, a certified Hypnotherapist, has created a very relaxing guided Progressive Muscle Relaxation, for us to enjoy.
The guided meditation in itself isn't much different from other PMR's on this site, but it's very well produced and a different voice and production may do wonders for you.
On Dr. Pierce's Website, there are also two hypnosis files you can download. "Releasing Your Hold on Cigarettes" and "Hypnosis for Weight Control." They are not really suitable for my Blog, but they may be useful to you.

Gentle Flex Pacifier
The one pacifier design that may come the closest to simulating the feel of nursing may be the gentle flex design that was invented by Gerber. The name of the pacifier does a pretty good job describing the design philosophy of the unit. This pacifier is not a solid piece of hard plastic for the baby to suck on. After all, that is not how mom feels when the baby nurses.
